Linda Stokey was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and has always had an active interest in art since childhood. Primarily an oil painter, she often searched for educational opportunities in different mediums and art processes. She has enjoyed creating in a wide range of artmaking techniques including: batik, watercolor, silkscreen, block printing, pastels, graphite, oils and acrylics.
After relocating to Las Vegas, she tried her hand at an introductory colored pencil class instructed by award-winning CPSA artist Jeff George. After that first class in 2018, she was immediately hooked on the medium, and has continued to produce art exclusively in colored pencil since.
Her original colored pencil art aligns perfectly with her love of extensive travel and photography. She is constantly on the lookout for inspiring reference shots in foreign countries, and her travels have produced a wide variety of interesting subject matter. The tree frog shown in “Emergence” is one example, with the original reference photo being taken in Singapore.
Linda has been juried into eight international colored pencil exhibitions, three with the CPSA, and five with the UKCPS. She has also won numerous awards including “Best of Show” from the Las Vegas Artist’s Guild, the Artist’s Council of Palm Springs, The City Lights Art Gallery, and the Sun City Art Club’s yearly shows. She has also been published in Ann Kullberg’s “CP Treasures Vol 9”.
