Sarah Park and Edwin Malavé II

A collaborative project constructed and evolved to be bold, beautiful and drastic. “Salsas” body, dress, and curvature is made completely of wood. Her shapes of high peaks, and low valleys are carved throughout. A softened texture draped with an array of acrylic paints. The vibrant Latin flare is accentuated in the back with the Korean hanbok patterned colors, also known as “saekdong.”  Her movement, her beauty, her peace… Her Name Is Salsa.

Edwin Malavé II is an American artist of Puerto Rican and African descent, originally from Chicago, Illinois, but raised in the Los Angeles, California area.  His love for design and colors started at a young age with significant influence from his mother, and the desire to learn and create was developed through his father's passions. His artwork is intuitively created by hand for its unique multidimensional characteristics.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Sarah Sunkyung Park is a Korean American painter who grew up in the United States, Japan and South Korea. She references her upbringing in her art on topics relating to identity and home while using bright, prismatic colors. Her father was a great influence in her artistic journey.
